Mumbai: Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has highlighted the growing risk of cybercrime targeting children, emphasizing the need for increased awareness and preventive measures. Speaking at the launch of Cyber Awareness Month 2025 at the Mumbai State Police Headquarters, Akshay Kumar shared a personal incident involving his 13-year-old daughter to stress the severity of online threats.
He revealed that while his daughter was playing an online game, an unknown individual sent messages asking whether she was a boy or a girl and later requested nude images. The child immediately stopped playing and informed her mother. Kumar described such incidents as part of the escalating cybercrime landscape, noting that these online offenses are becoming more dangerous than conventional street crimes. He urged parents to actively monitor their children’s digital activity and educate them about potential risks.

Following the incident, Akshay Kumar appealed to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to introduce a weekly “Cyber Period” in schools for students in grades 7 to 10. The initiative would focus on educating students about cybercrime, online safety, and responsible digital behavior. Kumar emphasized that incorporating cyber education into the school curriculum is essential to ensure children remain informed and protected in an increasingly digital world.
