Political activity is intensifying in Bihar as the 2025 Assembly elections approach, with a new survey by People’s Pulse Research Organisation projecting a close fight between the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc. According to the ‘Bihar Mood Report’, the NDA is slightly ahead with 41–44% of the vote share, while the INDIA bloc is estimated to secure 40–42.5%.
The survey indicates that the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) may lead with around 30% votes within the INDIA bloc, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) could secure about 29% within the NDA. The Jan Suraaj Party (JSP), led by Prashant Kishor, is projected to gain 6–8% of votes, potentially becoming a key factor in a closely fought race. Other parties may together secure 7.5–9% of votes.

Analysts say caste equations, youth and women voters, anti-incumbency, and ticket distribution will play a decisive role. The long-standing alliance between Janata Dal (United) (JDU) led by Nitish Kumar and the BJP has seen fluctuations, while the opposition Indian National Congress-RJD combine, led by Tejashwi Yadav, is intensifying its campaign. Rising unemployment and corruption concerns are expected to influence voter behaviour as the state heads toward the polls in October–November 2025.
