Hyderabad: Revanth Reddy, Chief Minister of Telangana, has downplayed the ongoing debate over alleged defections of MLAs, stating that merely wearing a party scarf does not signify a change in political allegiance. He noted that he had draped scarves on several leaders but only they know their actual commitments, adding that “one cannot know what will be served at someone’s house without going there.” Revanth said that, based on a complaint from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), ₹5,000 has already been deducted from the salaries of the defected MLAs and transferred to the party. He remarked that technically, only those MLAs know which party they currently belong to, and recalled T. Harish Rao stating in the Assembly that the BRS has the support of 37 legislators. He clarified that decisions on disqualification of defected MLAs rest with the Speaker.

Taking aim at the family of K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), Revanth alleged that KCR, K. T. Rama Rao (KTR), Harish Rao, and Santosh Rao are attempting to target K. Kavitha. He asserted that he has not supported Kavitha in any way and claimed their current troubles stem from internal property disputes, which have no connection to him. Revanth said the people of Telangana have rejected the KCR family and noted that ministers are now focused on their own portfolios. He further alleged that KTR is obstructing the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project, accusing G. Kishan Reddy of supporting KTR and citing the BRS’s decision to abstain from voting in the Vice Presidential election as proof. He added that Kishan Reddy appears to lack independent thinking.
