Hyderabad: A honey trap case has emerged in Ameerpet, where an 81-year-old man was defrauded of Rs. 7 lakh. The accused woman initially contacted the elderly man via WhatsApp, establishing communication over the phone. She gained his trust and recorded a video of them engaged in an intimate act.
The video was then used by an accomplice to blackmail the victim, threatening to expose it to his wife if he did not pay. Fearing the consequences, the man transferred money multiple times, totaling Rs. 7 lakh. Frustrated by repeated demands, he sought advice from his family, who urged him to report the matter to the police. The Ameerpet police subsequently registered a case and launched an investigation.

Authorities apprehended the woman and her two accomplices. With the assistance of cybercrime officials, the police are examining whether the group has been involved in similar scams previously. Officials have warned the public, especially senior citizens, to be cautious when interacting with strangers and to immediately report any threats or harassment to the authorities.
