Patna: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has launched a 16-day voter rights march across 25 districts of Bihar, beginning today from Sasaram. The march aims to raise awareness about discrepancies in voter lists and oppose the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in the state. Covering approximately 1,300 km, the campaign will follow a hybrid model, combining walking and vehicular travel to reach key constituencies. Gandhi emphasized the party’s principle of “one person, one vote” while interacting with local residents during the march.
Organized under the India Alliance banner, the march will see participation from senior JD(U) leader Tejashwi Yadav and other Mahagathbandhan leaders. The campaign, strategically timed ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, is set to culminate with a grand rally in Patna on September 1. Congress leaders describe this initiative as a milestone in the history of Indian democracy, highlighting their commitment to protecting voter rights.
