New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his Independence Day speech, delivered a strong message to Pakistan, declaring that “water and blood cannot flow together” and reaffirming India’s complete rights over the Indus waters. He accused Pakistan of misusing India’s share of water for the past 70 years and ruled out any possibility of dialogue, adding that “Operation Sindoor” had demonstrated India’s strength to both Pakistan and the global community. Modi also warned that anyone aiding terrorism would face severe consequences.

On the economic front, the Prime Minister announced that the Goods and Services Tax (GST) system will be restructured by Diwali to reduce prices of essential commodities and ease the burden on citizens. He said the GST Council will meet soon to simplify the tax regime and lower rates.

Modi also launched the “Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat” initiative, earmarking ₹1 lakh crore for youth development. The scheme will provide Rs 15,000 to first-time jobholders and offer incentives to companies generating employment opportunities.

Highlighting India’s transformation, Modi said the country, once dependent on food imports, is now a global exporter and advancing toward self-reliance in multiple sectors. He further revealed that Made-in-India semiconductor chips will soon enter the market, describing “Operation Sindoor” as a testament to the spirit of Make in India.
