New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday addressed the Lok Sabha during an ongoing debate on Operation Sindoor, responding to criticisms from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and INDIA bloc MPs. Modi emphasized that the Indian armed forces were granted full operational freedom during the mission, which he described as a significant victory against terrorism.
“We salute the courage and valor of our armed forces for fulfilling the Sindoor pledge. The nation is celebrating this historic victory, and it should not be politicized,” Modi said.
Highlighting the operation’s swift execution, the Prime Minister stated that it was completed within 22 minutes, resulting in the elimination of hundreds of terrorists and the destruction of multiple terror bases. “We demonstrated that Pakistan’s nuclear threat was baseless. Our technological might allowed us to strike deep within Pakistan, causing extensive damage to its airbases, which remain incapacitated,” he told Parliament.
Modi asserted that no country attempted to stop India during the operation, noting that only three nations issued statements in support of Pakistan. Thanking citizens for their solidarity during the crisis, he said, “Our retaliatory strikes revealed Pakistan’s links to terrorism. We have made it clear that anyone supporting terror will pay a heavy price.”
Warning Islamabad against future provocations, Modi said, “If Pakistan engages in further attacks, it will face severe consequences. Operation Sindoor has not concluded—it will continue.”
Responding to Congress’s earlier criticism of his “56-inch chest” remark, Modi remarked, “They may capture headlines but cannot win the hearts of the people.” He added that he had received intelligence of a planned major attack on May 9, to which he had warned that India’s response would be forceful.
“Our answer to bullets will be bullets. No outside support can shield Pakistan from the repercussions of our continued operations,” Modi declared in the Lok Sabha.
