Speaking on the ongoing war, Trump expressed frustration with Putin’s approach. “He speaks well but bombs civilians at night. I initially gave 50 days for a peace deal; now I’m cutting that to 10 or 12 days. If Putin does not agree to a ceasefire, secondary sanctions will be imposed. My decision will not change,” Trump said, according to BBC.
Trump, who vowed during his campaign to end the war if elected, has been making diplomatic efforts since taking office. However, talks have remained unsuccessful as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has shown willingness to compromise, while Putin has reportedly resisted negotiations. Western nations have already enforced multiple sanctions on Russia, and Trump’s latest ultimatum has heightened global attention on potential new measures.
