Hyderabad: The Telangana government has increased security for Medak BJP MP and Dubbaka MLA Raghunandan Rao after he reportedly received a threatening call claiming to be from Maoists. The call, which was traced to Madhya Pradesh, occurred while Rao was attending an event at Kranti Keen School in Dammaiguda, Medchal district. The caller allegedly issued a death threat, prompting the MP to file complaints with the State DGP, Medak SP, and other senior officials.
Following a security review, authorities confirmed the need for enhanced protection, leading to the deployment of an armed police escort. Rao had earlier submitted a formal request for upgraded security last year and recently renewed the appeal. With the latest threat and subsequent police verification, the government approved additional security measures to ensure his safety. Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident.
