Despite a resilient batting effort from Gujarat Titans, who struggled to keep pace with the required run rate, they fell short of the target. Sai Sudarshan scored a valiant 80 off 49 balls, including 10 fours and one six, while Washington Sundar added 48 runs off 24 balls with five fours and three sixes. Mumbai’s bowling unit applied pressure in the final overs, with Trent Boult taking two wickets and Jasprit Bumrah, Glenton Stuurman, Mitchell Santner, and Ashwin Kumar claiming one wicket each. Gujarat could not breach the 228-run target within the 20 overs, resulting in their defeat.
With this victory, Mumbai Indians advance to Qualifier 2, where they will face Punjab Kings on Sunday. The winner will secure a place in the IPL final against Royal Challengers Bangalore, who have already qualified.
