New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday declared that India has avenged the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam through Operation Sindhur, stating that the mission delivered a strong retaliatory blow to terrorism. Addressing the media, Singh revealed that India not only targeted areas along the Pakistan border but also launched strikes on Rawalpindi. Highlighting the strategic use of BrahMos missiles during the operation, Singh said the offensive was aimed at demonstrating India’s military capabilities. The Indian Air Force later confirmed that the operation is still underway, with the statement coming shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meeting with the chiefs of the Army, Navy, and Air Force.

Despite a mutual ceasefire agreement reached between India and Pakistan on Saturday afternoon, Pakistan reportedly violated the truce later that evening. In this context, India and Pakistan are scheduled to hold high-level military talks on May 12 via a hotline. The meeting will involve the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMO) from both nations, with discussions expected to centre around maintaining the ceasefire and de-escalating tensions.

On Saturday at 3:35 p.m., Pakistan’s DGMO contacted his Indian counterpart requesting ceasefire implementation, which was followed by a statement from Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirming the truce began at 5 p.m. However, India later accused Pakistan of breaching the agreement, intensifying focus on the upcoming DGMO-level talks.
