Hyderabad: Union Minister Bandi Sanjay has categorically ruled out any possibility of peace talks with Maoist insurgents, stating that discussions can only begin once they lay down their arms. Addressing the media on Sunday, the minister said there was no question of negotiating with groups responsible for the killings of innocent civilians.
“There can be no talks with those who wield guns and take innocent lives. The Maoists have targeted political leaders with landmines and murdered tribals under the pretext of labelling them informers. They have inflicted severe psychological trauma on tribal families. Dialogue is out of the question until they give up arms,” Sanjay said.

He also reminded that it was the Congress party that first imposed a ban on the Maoists, emphasizing that the government would not compromise on national security.
The minister’s remarks come in the wake of a major anti-Maoist operation along the Telangana–Chhattisgarh border. Security forces recently took control of the Karregutta region during ‘Operation Kagar’, acting on credible intelligence about Maoist hideouts. As part of the success of the mission, the national flag was hoisted at the captured site.
Over the past ten days, more than 20,000 armed personnel have been engaged in extensive combing and search operations across the region, intensifying efforts to root out extremist elements.
