Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Seeks PM Modi’s Appointment for Discussion on Reservation Bills

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting an appointment for an all-party delegation, including leaders from the Congress, BRS, BJP, AIMIM, and CPI. The delegation aims to seek the Centre’s support for two key reservation bills unanimously passed by the Telangana Assembly on Monday.

The bills propose increasing reservations for Backward Classes (BCs) in local bodies, education, and employment sectors to 42%. The Chief Minister emphasized the necessity of the Centre’s approval and urged the Prime Minister to facilitate discussions on the matter.

Congress Leadership Meeting in Delhi on March 27

In a related development, a meeting of Telangana DCC and CCC presidents will be held in Delhi on March 27, bringing together Congress leaders from multiple states and union territories. The meeting, to take place at Indira Bhavan, will be chaired by AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, focusing on organizational matters.

Telangana Assembly Approves BC Reservation and SC Categorization Bills

On Monday, the Telangana Assembly passed two significant bills:
– Backward Classes (BC) Reservation Bill, introduced by Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, which seeks to raise BC reservations to 42%.
– SC Categorization Bill, presented by Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha.

The state government has announced its intent to send the bills to the Centre for approval and has called on all political parties to collectively urge the Union government for their passage. The BRS party has extended full support to the initiative.
