In a concerning development following the Kurnool bus tragedy, Andhra Pradesh witnessed another private bus accident in Nellore district. A private travels bus collided with an iron barricade while attempting to overtake a lorry on the Kothuru stretch of the Pellikuru Mandal national highway. Authorities noted that the barricade prevented the bus from veering off the road, averting a potentially serious accident.
The bus was carrying 34 passengers along with two drivers at the time of the incident. Fortunately, there were no casualties, and all passengers were unharmed. They were immediately transferred to other vehicles to continue their journey. Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances of the collision. The recent spate of bus accidents in the state has heightened public concern over road safety.

In response to these incidents, Nellore transport authorities, under the supervision of RTO Madani, conducted inspections of private travels buses at the Poole Bommala Center. Officials discovered safety violations, including non-functional emergency exits, and seized two buses for failing to meet safety standards.
Authorities have urged private bus operators to strictly adhere to safety regulations to prevent further accidents. The consecutive incidents have underscored the need for stricter enforcement of road safety norms and increased vigilance across the state’s highways.
