A major boating tragedy unfolded in Vietnam’s Ha Long Bay as a tourist vessel carrying 53 passengers capsized amid violent winds and thunderstorms. The incident resulted in the confirmed deaths of 28 individuals.
According to local authorities, the boat was in the midst of its journey when it was hit by sudden inclement weather, causing it to lose balance and overturn. Rescue teams responded promptly, managing to save 12 passengers. So far, 27 bodies have been recovered, while the search continues for others feared missing.
Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed condolences to the bereaved families and instructed rescue teams to intensify search operations. Government officials also confirmed that an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.
