A tragic incident has raised alarm in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, as 22-year-old Raavuri Sai Ram, a second-year medical student at Rangaraya Medical College (RMC), committed suicide in his hostel room. The incident occurred at around 1 a.m. on Monday when the student was found hanging from a fan in an unoccupied room in the RMC Boys Hostel.
Possible Love Affair Behind Suicide
Fellow students, upon noticing the incident, immediately alerted the hostel staff. Sai Ram was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead by the doctors. Police arrived at the scene shortly after and began an investigation into the cause of death. They are focusing on a potential love affair as the trigger, with reports indicating that Sai Ram was involved with a first-year MBBS student.

Academic Pressure and Upcoming Exams
Sai Ram had completed all first-year MBBS subjects and was preparing for his practical exams, which were scheduled to begin on February 21. Authorities are investigating whether the stress related to exams contributed to the student’s tragic decision. The police have seized Sai Ram’s mobile phone and are analyzing his WhatsApp chats and call records as part of their probe.
Upon hearing the news of Sai Ram’s death, his family rushed to the hospital. Dr. Umamaheswara Rao, a faculty member at the college, expressed shock, stating that Sai Ram had been a good student with excellent grades and was also active in sports. Dr. Rao emphasized that counseling is available to students before exams, leaving unanswered questions about what led to this heartbreaking incident.
