This marks India’s first-ever World Cup victory in women’s cricket and their third appearance in a World Cup final over the 52-year history of the tournament. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur’s side delivered a commanding performance to end India’s long wait for the prestigious trophy.
Batting first, India posted a challenging total of 298 runs, with Shafali Verma and Deepti Sharma scoring crucial half-centuries. In response, South Africa were bundled out for 246, falling short by 52 runs.
