13,000 Trains to Ensure Seamless Travel for Maha Kumbh Pilgrims

Ahead of the Maha Kumbh Mela scheduled to take place in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, starting January 13, 2024, authorities are making significant arrangements to ensure a seamless experience for the large number of devotees expected to attend.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that the Ministry of Railways would run a total of 13,000 trains, including 3,000 special trains, to accommodate the anticipated influx of pilgrims. Officials estimate that between 1.5 to 2 crore devotees will travel to Prayagraj by train for the event.

During a train journey from Varanasi to Prayagraj, Ashwini Vaishnaw reviewed the railway infrastructure and inspected the newly constructed bridge over the Ganges. He shared that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would soon inaugurate this bridge, which marks a significant milestone as it is the first new bridge over the Ganges built by the government in nearly a century.

Over the past two years, the Ministry of Railways has invested over 5,000 crore rupees in infrastructure upgrades and logistical support to ensure the success of the Maha Kumbh Mela. Authorities remain committed to ensuring that the event is well-equipped to handle the massive turnout while prioritizing the convenience and safety of pilgrims.
