The Andhra Pradesh government has outlined clear eligibility criteria for the Talliki Vandanam scheme, which provides financial aid to mothers of school-going children. The scheme targets economically disadvantaged families and promotes continued education through annual cash assistance.
To qualify, the family’s monthly income must not exceed Rs 10,000 in rural areas and Rs 12,000 in urban areas. Additionally, the family must possess a valid Rice Card. Land ownership should be limited to below 3 acres of wetland, 10 acres of dry land, or a combined total of less than 10 acres.
Vehicle ownership is restricted—no family member should own a four-wheeler, although exemptions are made for taxis, tractors, and auto-rickshaws. The family’s electricity usage must not exceed an annual average of 300 units, and they must not own municipal property larger than 1,000 square feet.
Children of Central or State government employees, and families receiving government pensions (excluding sanitation workers), are not eligible. Likewise, households with any income tax payer are excluded. Beneficiaries must be listed in the Andhra Pradesh Household Database. If only the child is listed, field verification by the GSWS department is required to map the parent as the beneficiary.
The scheme excludes students enrolled in ITI, Polytechnic, IIIT (RGUKT), and other fee reimbursement-based technical courses. However, orphans and street children enrolled in schools through NGOs can qualify following verification by the concerned department.
To receive benefits, the mother’s bank account must be active and linked with NPCI. Additionally, the student must maintain at least 75% attendance during the academic year to be eligible for continued aid. Those who drop out or fail to meet the attendance criteria will lose eligibility.
Students from Class 1 to Intermediate 1st Year (Class 11) will be considered for financial aid under the scheme after completion of the registration process for the 2025–26 academic year.
