The sensational remarks made by Susmita, daughter of Minister Konda Surekha, have already stirred a major controversy in Telangana politics, drawing sharp criticism from leaders within her own party as well as CM Revanth Reddy. Following demands that Konda Surekha provide an explanation over these remarks, she had earlier released a letter on social media. Now, she has issued yet another letter.
Konda Surekha expressed deep anguish, alleging that certain Congress leaders were publicly making humiliating remarks targeting her and her family members. Responding to the matter, she wrote an appeal letter to Mallu Ravi, Chairman of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Disciplinary Committee.
Surekha demanded that the real people behind the criticism levelled against her by public representatives and senior leaders from her own party — who came forward before the media — be identified. She said she had already provided a suitable explanation in response to the notice issued by the Disciplinary Committee. She questioned how, even as the inquiry into her case was still ongoing, certain leaders were publicly passing judgment on her political future and demanding action against her. She urged the committee to also examine whether such actions were part of a conspiracy aimed at influencing the committee’s independent decision-making.
In her letter, Konda Surekha expressed her distress, making clear that she has always remained committed to the discipline and policies of the Congress party. However, she remarked that it was deeply concerning that, while several leaders were collectively launching verbal attacks against her — a senior BC woman leader — the party leadership remained silent. She said the party leadership needed to closely examine the real intentions behind leaders holding press conferences demanding action against her.
Surekha stated that the Congress party has always placed great importance on democratic values, social justice, women’s empowerment, and the self-respect of weaker sections. She appealed to the TPCC Disciplinary Committee to immediately take strict action, in accordance with the party’s disciplinary rules, against leaders who were acting against the party’s ideals and ideological values by launching personal attacks against her.
