Tirupati: In the recent Andhra Pradesh elections, TDP candidate Pulivarthi Nani and YSRCP candidate Chevireddy Mohit Reddy contested the Chandragiri assembly seat. Following the polling, Pulivarthi Nani was attacked while inspecting the strong room at Tirupati’s Padmavathi Women’s University, resulting in severe injuries.
The Tirupati police have launched an investigation and registered a case under sections related to attempt to murder. Chevireddy Mohit Reddy has been implicated in the conspiracy and faces charges under Section 307 of the IPC.
After the incident, Mohit Reddy sought anticipatory bail from the High Court; however, the hearing has been postponed. Meanwhile, Tirupati police detained Mohit Reddy in Bengaluru as he attempted to leave the state. He is the 37th accused in the case and is expected to be produced before a judge later tonight for remand. Mohit Reddy is the son of former Chandragiri MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy.
