The Jaipur airport was thrown into turmoil following an altercation involving a SpiceJet employee allegedly assaulting a security officer with a slipper. The incident occurred when the employee, attempting to enter through a designated gate for vehicle access, clashed with an assistant sub-inspector of the Central Industrial Security Force during a security screening. Initial reports suggest the employee was stopped for improper use of the gate, leading to a confrontation.
However, conflicting accounts have emerged. The employee claims the security personnel misbehaved and allegedly harassed her, including the use of inappropriate language and unwelcome advances. She further alleged being summoned after her duty hours.
Subsequently, the woman employee was taken into police custody on charges of assaulting a sub-inspector on duty. SpiceJet has expressed support for its employee, emphasizing the seriousness of the allegations of sexual harassment. They have pledged legal action and assured full backing for their employee during the investigation.
A SpiceJet spokesperson stated, “We stand firmly behind our employee. The incident arose as the catering vehicle escort attempted to pass through the steel gate with valid airport passes, but security personnel reportedly obstructed their passage intentionally.”
