Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan on Tuesday announced that his party would contest the upcoming elections to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, marking a significant step in Jana Sena’s political expansion in Telangana.
Addressing a press conference in Hyderabad, Pawan Kalyan said Jana Sena is preparing to enter the GHMC electoral fray and would actively participate in the civic polls. He described the move as part of the party’s broader strategy to strengthen its presence in Telangana and engage more closely with urban voters.
However, the Jana Sena chief clarified that a final decision has not yet been taken on whether the party will contest the elections independently or enter into an alliance with other political parties. He said consultations on the matter are underway and that the party would announce its electoral strategy at an appropriate time.
Pawan Kalyan noted that all options remain open and that the leadership would take a decision after assessing the prevailing political situation and the interests of the party. He indicated that further clarity on potential alliances and seat-sharing arrangements is expected in the coming weeks.
The announcement assumes significance as Jana Sena seeks to expand its political footprint beyond Andhra Pradesh and establish a stronger presence in Telangana ahead of future electoral contests. Political observers believe the party’s entry into the GHMC elections could add a new dimension to the civic poll battle in Hyderabad.
