Terrorists have carried out another brutal attack in Jammu and Kashmir. On Friday night, they opened indiscriminate fire targeting migrant laborers working at a brick kiln in Kelam (Kellam) village in Kulgam district, South Kashmir. In this tragic incident, one migrant worker lost his life, while another was critically injured.
The worker killed on the spot was identified as Deepak, from Chhattisgarh, while Bhupender (Bhupendra), from Uttar Pradesh, was severely injured. The injured worker was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital. As his condition worsened, he was later moved to the Government Medical College in Anantnag for better treatment and is currently undergoing care there.
After the attack, the terrorists fled the scene. Security forces, upon receiving information, rushed to the spot and brought the area fully under their control. A large-scale search operation has been launched to track down the fleeing terrorists.
Notably, this marks the second targeted attack in the Kashmir Valley within just the last ten days. Last week, terrorists shot dead a police officer in Anantnag. With the famous Amarnath Yatra currently underway, such attacks occurring despite tight security arrangements have raised widespread concern among local authorities.
Following these incidents, security forces conducting checks across Jammu and Kashmir have detained over 3,000 suspects. However, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah made pointed remarks against the Central government, stating that detaining such a large number of people at once could further worsen the situation in the region.
Last year, following an attack by Pakistani terrorist groups in the Pahalgam valley that killed 26 tourists, India launched “Operation Sindoor.” Through this operation, Indian forces destroyed key terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Despite this, such infiltrations and terror incidents continue to recur repeatedly in the border areas.
