Regarding the airport project, local opposition had been growing against the handover to the Adani Group. Citizens expressed concerns about awarding such contracts to foreign entities instead of their own countrymen. As a result, the airport project has also been suspended.

President Ruto issued an official statement on the matter, and it is reported that the Kenyan Ministry of Transport and Energy has been instructed to take appropriate actions in light of these developments.
