An Indian-origin man has been sentenced to 13 years and 10 months in prison by a court in Adelaide, Australia, after being found guilty of multiple sexual offences involving female clients at a massage parlour where he was employed.

The accused, identified as 39-year-old Sumit Satish Rastogi, was convicted on 97 charges related to sexual assault and illegal recording of women who visited the establishment for massage services. According to court findings, Rastogi, who did not possess any formal qualification in massage therapy, was employed at the parlour and targeted women between October 2021 and July 2022. He allegedly abused his position by inappropriately touching clients under the guise of treatment and secretly recording them without consent.

Investigations revealed that around 61 women were identified as victims in the case. The court also heard psychiatric evidence indicating that the accused suffered from a psychological disorder linked to deriving sexual gratification from observing unsuspecting individuals in vulnerable situations.

While acknowledging the medical reports, the presiding judge stated that the condition could not justify or excuse the criminal behaviour, noting that the accused was aware his actions were wrong and capable of controlling them. Following completion of the sentence, authorities confirmed that Rastogi will be deported from Australia and returned to India.
