The recent ED raids at Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy’s residence have sparked political discussions, with the spotlight now on his son, Harsha Reddy, who has been implicated in smuggling high-end luxury watches. Harsha Reddy allegedly procured expensive brands like Patek Philippe and Breguet through smugglers. The operation came under scrutiny when, on February 5, smuggler Mohammed Fahedeen Mubeen was apprehended by customs officials at Chennai Airport while attempting to bring the watches into India. During the investigation, Mubeen confessed that he had arranged the watches on behalf of Harsha Reddy.
Officials suspect that payments of up to Rs 100 crore were made through hawala and cryptocurrency channels, facilitated by a man named Alokam Naveen Kumar. Reports indicate that Harsha Reddy imported seven watches worth Rs 35 crore, with each watch valued at approximately Rs 5 crore. It is believed that Harsha Reddy distributed these high-end watches to close associates and friends.
