The Election Commission has released the schedule for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, announcing that polling for the Upper House seats will be held on June 18. Elections will be conducted for 24 Rajya Sabha seats across 10 states in the country as the terms of several members are set to expire.
According to the schedule, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, and Karnataka will each go to polls for four Rajya Sabha seats, while Madhya Pradesh will elect three members and Jharkhand will fill two seats. The elections are expected to witness key political contests in several states amid shifting political equations.
The Election Commission stated that the notification for the polls will be issued on June 1. The last date for filing nominations is June 8, while scrutiny of nomination papers will be carried out on June 9. Candidates can withdraw their nominations until June 11. The counting of votes and declaration of results will take place on the same day as polling.
