In a significant move, the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has launched the demolition of illegal structures violating Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) norms at Bheemili Beach. These constructions were undertaken on land owned by former MP and YSRCP leader Vijayasai Reddy’s daughter, Neha Reddy.
Massive concrete structures were reportedly built by excavating sand dunes, prompting the High Court to order their removal. Acting on the directive, GVMC’s town planning officials deployed heavy machinery, including EX-200 breakers and bucket machines, to dig up to 10 feet and dismantle the illegal constructions.

The issue came to light after Jana Sena Corporator PLVN Murthy Yadav filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL), highlighting the violation of CRZ norms and the threat posed to turtle habitats. Another PIL was filed by Village Development Service Association President Ganta Nukaraju, raising concerns over the establishment of permanent resto-bars in the CRZ zone.
Meanwhile, legal troubles continue to mount for Vijayasai Reddy. In connection with the Kakinada Port shares transfer case, the Andhra Pradesh CID has issued notices to him under IPC sections 506, 384, 420, 109, 467, and 120(B) read with 34, based on a complaint filed by KV Rao. Since Vijayasai Reddy was unavailable during the CID’s visit, the notice was handed over to his wife.
In this case, Y.V. Subbareddy’s son Vikranth Reddy has been named as Accused No. 1, while Vijayasai Reddy is Accused No. 2. The CID has summoned him to appear for questioning at the Vijayawada office on March 12 at 11 AM. Whether Vijayasai Reddy will attend the hearing remains to be seen.
