Sensational developments have emerged in the POCSO case involving Bandi Bhagirath, who is currently lodged in Charlapally jail as a remand prisoner in connection with allegations of harassment of a minor girl. The legal pressure on him has intensified further as police continue their investigation into the case.

As part of the ongoing probe, police have added a more stringent section after finding evidence suggesting that Bhagirath repeatedly committed sexual assault on the victim. Investigators have invoked Section 64(2)(m) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which applies in cases involving repeated offences against a single minor. This is in addition to earlier charges filed under the POCSO Act and multiple BNS sections, including 5(l) r/w 6, 74, 75, 11, and 12.

According to legal experts, if the charges under the newly added section are proven in court, the accused could face a minimum of 10 years of rigorous imprisonment or even life imprisonment. They also noted that the severity of the case makes the possibility of bail extremely unlikely at this stage.

Meanwhile, police are planning to seek custody of Bhagirath for further interrogation to gather additional evidence. Officials have already submitted medical reports of the victim, along with technical evidence such as mobile data and chat records, before the court to strengthen the case.
