Actor and Hindupuram TDP MLA Balakrishna has made a significant political move by orchestrating the defection of 14 YSRCP councilors, including Municipal Chairperson Indraja, to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). This shift comes after a change in the state government, boosting TDP’s presence in Hindupuram Municipal Corporation. With the addition of these 14 councilors, TDP now controls a total of 22 councilor seats, including existing members.
In a strategic move, Balakrishna transported the newly joined councilors to Hyderabad in a special bus, where they were hosted at a private resort. The political activity comes ahead of the municipal chairperson notification, with the TDP taking steps to solidify its position and prevent further shifts.
In the 38 wards of Hindupuram Municipality, YSRCP had secured 30 seats, while TDP won 6, and BJP and AIMIM each claimed 1. Following this, several YSRCP and BJP councilors, including two YSRCP members, had already switched allegiance to TDP before the assembly elections.
Reports indicate that D.E. Ramesh Kumar, the councilor from the 6th ward, has been nominated as the Municipal Chairman for TDP.
