New Delhi: A prominent anchor from leading news channel Aaj Tak found herself at the center of controversy after an on-air gaffe while reporting the demise of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Thursday night.

While referencing a statement from AIIMS, the anchor mistakenly announced that “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has passed away at the age of 92.” She quickly realized the error and corrected herself, clarifying that it was former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh who had passed away.

This incident has sparked widespread criticism, with viewers pointing to a pattern of inaccuracies. Previously, the same anchor had faced backlash for claiming that Rs 2,000 currency notes were equipped with embedded chips.

The latest slip has renewed debates on journalistic responsibility and accuracy, with many urging media professionals to exercise greater caution in sensitive reporting.
