Former President Ram Nath Kovind has underscored the importance of simultaneous elections for the nation’s development, stating that holding elections at one time would significantly benefit the economy and reduce voter fatigue. Speaking at an event organized by a tribal organization, Kovind remarked, “Voters are tired of leaders seeking votes every year. Frequent elections are not desirable.”

He emphasized that the implementation of the Jamili elections proposal, expected by 2029-30, would eliminate the need for voters to participate in elections annually. Kovind asserted that the simultaneous elections system would contribute to economic growth, projecting an additional 1.5% increase in GDP. “With this growth, India can achieve a 10% GDP expansion sooner, making it the world’s third or fourth-largest economic power,” he stated.
Simultaneous Elections Report Now Public
Kovind also addressed the report on simultaneous elections, highlighting his role as the chairman of the high-level committee He revealed that extensive consultations were held with political party leaders and Election Commission officials. Kovind informed that the comprehensive 18,000-page report is now available online, ensuring public accessibility without the need to visit libraries.
