Hyderabad: Former BRS minister Harish Rao faces allegations in a phone tapping case, as Panjagutta police filed charges based on a complaint by Chakradhar, a resident of Siddipet. The charges invoke IPC sections 120(B), 386, 409, 506, read with 34, and provisions of the IT Act.
Chakradhar alleges illegal phone tapping and harassment through false cases during the BRS tenure. The complaint also names former Task Force DCP Radhakishan Rao. This development comes amid the Congress-led government’s ongoing probe into phone tapping incidents, which has already resulted in the arrest of several Task Force officials who served during the BRS administration.
Recently, former BRS MLA Chirumarthi Lingaiah was questioned in connection with the case. The allegations against Harish Rao have added a new dimension to the investigation.

Accused Flees to the US
The case’s complexity deepened with Prabhakar Rao, a key accused, reportedly fleeing to the United States, where he has obtained a green card. Notices have been issued by the Ministry of External Affairs to Prabhakar Rao and Shravan Rao, another accused, requiring them to explain why their passports should not be revoked.
Both have been directed to present themselves at Indian embassies. The Passport Authority will decide on passport revocation based on their explanations.
The allegations against Harish Rao and the international ramifications involving Prabhakar Rao have sparked significant political and public attention.
