Hundreds of residents from five villages in Gurlamandal, Vizianagaram district, have been affected by a severe outbreak of Diarrhoea, with dozens of deaths reported. Many others are receiving treatment for vomiting and diarrhea at home. Although this situation has been ongoing since last Saturday, former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed outrage, accusing the ruling government of negligence. He criticized the state’s public health system, citing the diarrhea outbreak in Gurlamandal as a glaring example of its collapse. Jagan shared his concerns via a post on Twitter (X).
Chandrababu’s Government Remains Unresponsive
Despite the death toll reaching 11 and hundreds of people affected, Jagan slammed the Chandrababu government for its inaction. He criticized the administration for providing medical treatment on school benches, even though well-equipped hospitals are nearby in Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam. He stated that the government had failed to deliver proper emergency healthcare.

Delays in Salaries After Chandrababu’s Return
Jagan further accused the government of turning a blind eye to the struggles of the people, claiming that officials are more focused on liquor and sand scams. He pointed out that the 104 and 108 emergency services have been severely impacted, with employees facing salary delays since Chandrababu’s return to power. He also highlighted the government’s failure to settle nearly ₹1,800 crore in pending payments under the Aarogyasri scheme since March. Moreover, Jagan claimed the health insurance system had been weakened, specialist doctors were removed from CHCs, and the government’s “Zero Vacancy” policy had been abandoned.
Nadu-Nedu Works Halted
He also criticized the government for halting the Nadu-Nedu works at government hospitals, leaving new medical colleges in disarray. Jagan accused the government of corruption and preparing to sell off public assets.
Focus on Health Infrastructure
Jagan called for immediate action, urging the government to focus on providing adequate healthcare and improving access to clean drinking water in the affected villages. He further alleged that Chandrababu’s government was privatizing public healthcare services to benefit his associates, endangering the lives of the people.
