In a scathing attack, BRS working president KTR criticized the Congress government for its failure to address the needs of Telangana farmers, accusing it of negligence in fulfilling pre-election promises. KTR demanded the immediate implementation of the promise to pay a bonus of ₹500 for every quintal of paddy produced by farmers. During a high-level review meeting held yesterday, KTR raised concerns over the indecisiveness of the Chief Minister and the state government on providing the Rs 500 bonus for thin-grain paddy and for delaying the distribution of *Rythu Bharosa* support for the current monsoon season. He also questioned the government’s inaction despite the approaching end of the rainy season.
Loan Waiver: “Has It Happened or Not?”
KTR also took aim at the Congress government’s much-touted loan waiver scheme. He remarked that the truth behind the Chief Minister’s claim of 100% loan waiver was exposed by none other than the Agriculture Minister, who revealed that 2 million farmers are yet to receive the promised waiver. KTR pointed out that this starkly contrasts with the CM’s public statements, which he described as hollow promises.
KTR further questioned why, despite the government’s promise on December 9 to waive loans up to ₹2 lakh in one go, 10 months have passed and 2 million farmers have still not received any relief. He suggested that if 2 million farmers are awaiting the loan waiver as per official figures, the actual number could be much higher. KTR criticized the government’s focus on looting crores under projects like the Musi river development while sidelining critical initiatives like loan waivers for farmers.
Rythu Bharosa: “What Happened to the Promised Support?”
KTR reminded the Congress leadership that during the election campaign, TPCC President Revanth Reddy promised ₹7,500 per acre under the *Rythu Bharosa* scheme. However, farmers have so far only received payments under *Rythu Bandhu*, and even those were limited to the last season. KTR further criticized the Congress government for failing to disburse the promised funds for the current monsoon season and demanded clarification on when the funds will be credited to farmers’ accounts.
