In Hyderabad, drug addicts are exploring unconventional methods to access intoxicants, with recent reports revealing a new trend. Previously, drugs were hidden in chocolates typically consumed by children; now, whiskey is being incorporated into ice cream.
Excise enforcement officials recently uncovered this illegal operation during a raid at an ice cream parlour on Jubilee Hills Road No. 1 and 5. The authorities seized 11.5 kg of ice cream mixed with whiskey from the establishment.
The ice cream, sold at Harike Cafe, contained 60 ml of 100 Pipers whiskey per kilogram and was marketed at elevated prices. To boost sales, the establishment had also been advertising the product on Facebook. The suspects, identified as Dayakar Reddy and Sobhan, have been charged with manufacturing and selling this illicit concoction. The police have filed a case against them, noting that 100 Pipers whiskey is typically sold at premium rates.
