Vigilance authorities have launched an investigation into alleged irregularities within the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) during the previous government’s tenure. Over the past two months, the authorities have been gathering detailed information from various departments of the TTD.

The investigation focuses on violations of regulations, expenditures, and other operational issues. Notices have been issued to former Chairman Bhuman Karunakara Reddy and additional Executive Officer Dharmareddy, requesting their explanations. Additionally, former Chairman Y.V. Subba Reddy and former Executive Officer Jawahar Reddy have also received notices seeking their responses.

Typically, around Rs 300 crore is allocated annually for engineering works at TTD. However, there are allegations of significant bribery in the tendering process involving several officials. The vigilance authorities have issued notices to key figures, including Chief Statistics Officer Balaji, concerning allocations such as Rs 420 crore to Govindarajaswamy Sattrams, Rs 77 crore to SWIMS, and funds for roads and other projects in Tirupati. Officials have requested explanations on why financial irregularities within TTD were not addressed.
