Union Minister Amit Shah vows to eradicate naxalism by 2026 at Raipur meeting

In a recent inter-state coordination meeting held in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, Union Minister minister Amit Shah delivered key remarks on the issue of naxalism. The meeting was attended by senior officials from Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Maharashtra.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed the gathering, emphasizing the need to eradicate naxalism in the coming years. He highlighted that approximately 17,000 individuals have fallen victim to naxal violence so far. Shah stressed the necessity of a robust and systematic strategy to eliminate naxalism by 2026.

The Home Minister noted a 53% decrease in naxal-related incidents from 2014 to 2024 compared to the previous decade. He assured that the government aims to free the country from left-wing extremism by March 2026. Shah also mentioned ongoing efforts by the central government to enhance security in Maoist-affected regions and the role of central agencies like the NIA and ED in combating Maoist violence.
