Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Poland and Ukraine following invitations from Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. This visit will mark the first time in 30 years that an Indian Prime Minister has traveled to Ukraine. Recently, Modi visited Russia amidst the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict and met with President Vladimir Putin, reaffirming India’s long-standing relationship with Russia as a trusted ally.

India has consistently advocated for resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict through dialogue and diplomatic channels. Prime Minister Modi has frequently emphasized that war is not a viable solution in contemporary times.

Modi’s upcoming visit to Ukraine has generated considerable international interest. His recent visit to Russia had drawn some criticism from the United States and Western countries. Analysts believe that the visit to Ukraine may help address these concerns and facilitate the normalization of relations between India and Western nations.

Additionally, Modi is set to become the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Poland in 45 years. This visit will coincide with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Poland. Poland is home to approximately 25,000 Indians. During the Ukraine conflict, Poland played a crucial role in evacuating Indian students stranded in the country. Historically, during World War II in 1940, Indian rulers from Jamnagar and Kolhapur provided refuge to 6,000 Poland women and children.
