In the wake of Keshav Rao’s resignation from the Rajya Sabha, the Congress has nominated Abhishek Manu Singhvi for the vacant seat. Singhvi submitted his nomination papers to the Returning Officer, accompanied by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, various ministers, MLAs, MLCs, MPs, and the party’s state affairs in-charge, Deepadas Munshi. The election for this seat is anticipated to be uncontested due to the Congress’s numerical advantage among the legislators.

The resignation of Keshav Rao has resulted in a reduction of the BRS party’s representation in the Rajya Sabha. The BRS previously held five seats; however, Rao’s departure, following his shift to the Congress, has decreased the party’s representation to four.

The Election Commission has recently issued a notification for by-elections affecting 11 states, including Telangana. Nominations will be accepted until August 21, with the election and results scheduled for September 3.
