The Supreme Court of India deferred today the hearing on a petition filed by former Telangana Chief Minister and BRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao. KCR seeks to challenge the validity of the electricity commission appointed by the current Revanth Reddy-led government in Telangana. Chief Justice DY Chandrachud stated that the petition is scheduled for tomorrow. Mohit Rao, representing KCR, initially requested a passover citing the unavailability of senior counsel, leading to the adjournment of the case until tomorrow morning due to its late afternoon listing.

The Telangana state government recently instituted a commission to investigate alleged irregularities in power contracts, precipitating legal action. Notices have been issued to KCR in connection with this inquiry. In response, KCR has initiated legal proceedings, contesting the issuance of notices and his summons for questioning.

KCR asserts bias in the appointment of the Justice Narasimha Reddy Commission by the Telangana government. This commission was tasked with investigating purported irregularities in power contracts with Chhattisgarh and the construction of Yadadri and Bhadradri power plants. KCR’s legal challenge against these actions is now before the courts.
