BALOCHISTAN: The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF), a separatist group that has fought for years to free Balochistan from Pakistan, has announced the formation of an all-women fighting unit named the Karima Armed Assault Division (KAD). While people in the region continue to hold democratic protests, several armed groups are also fighting against Pakistan, and the BLF is one of them. The group has been carrying out continuous attacks on the Pakistani army.
The BLF released a video showing women members of the unit undergoing training. It also shows a woman commander explaining the objectives and strategy of a mission aimed at targeting Pakistani soldiers in Turbat, and giving a tactical briefing to KAD fighters ahead of an attack on a Quick Reaction Force (QRF) convoy in the area. The footage also shows women fighters stopping vehicles for snap checks in the Mangchar area of Kalat. The video was reportedly recorded before the mission.
The BLF claimed that the unit’s latest attack killed nine Pakistani military personnel and injured several others. It said the operation, named Kalat, had put a check on Pakistani military personnel. The group added that the attack on the CPEC road was the second operation carried out by the unit.
The BLF said years of rigorous training had shaped the women’s unit into a powerful fighting force, and described the operations as proof of the growing role of women fighters in its ranks. It stated that it is waging armed resistance against Pakistani forces over enforced disappearances and human rights violations in Balochistan. According to the group, the video was shared to showcase the unit’s capabilities and achievements. However, the number of Pakistani soldiers killed in the latest attack is yet to be fully confirmed.
