Donald Trump Escalates Iran Pressure With AI Posts

US President Donald Trump has ramped up pressure on Iran, posting a barrage of AI-generated content on Truth Social over the weekend even as the US military carried out no new strikes — Trump posted 34 times within an hour, making strong claims that Iran would be completely crushed. His posts featured graphics depicting American dominance, including one showing Iran’s oil exports plummeting sharply, and hinted at a possible strike on Kharg, Iran’s key oil hub. One graphic notably depicted Iran’s shape on the Middle East map resembling Trump’s own face.

In another post, Trump claimed oil transport through the Strait of Hormuz had returned to pre-war levels, currently at 18 million barrels a day compared to 20 million before the conflict. The strait, critical to global oil supply, carries nearly a fifth of the world’s oil transport, and disruptions there amid the Iran conflict have raised concerns of rising global oil prices. Trump shared another graphic claiming Iran’s oil exports were collapsing and inflation was severe, showing the rial’s value had crashed from about 900,000 to over 2.27 million per dollar since early 2025. He also posted an AI-generated image showing a plane bombing an oil well in Iran, captioned “Bye bye, Kharg.”

Trump had recently floated renaming the Strait of Hormuz to “Trump Strait,” before saying hours later that he wasn’t being serious — part of a pattern of proposing name changes to international places and institutions since starting his second term.
