Telangana Congress politics has been gripped by intense suspense, with reports indicating that the party high command has directed Minister Konda Surekha to resign immediately. According to information, AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge has made clear that Konda Surekha must resign from her ministerial post by this evening. Sources indicate that if she fails to do so, the high command is prepared to remove her from the cabinet, with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said to be ready to send a dismissal letter to the Governor.
Amid these developments, Konda Surekha is expected to hold a press conference at 3 pm today, where she may announce her resignation. However, uncertainty remains over the scope of her decision — whether she will step down only from her ministerial post or also relinquish her MLA position.
The pressure on Konda Surekha stems from controversial remarks made by her daughter, Konda Sushmitha. Sushmitha reacted sharply after Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced that Revuri Prakash Reddy would once again be given the party ticket from the Parkal constituency, publicly challenging, “Who is Revanth Reddy to give tickets? I will contest from Parkal in the next elections myself.” Her remarks, which also targeted the Chief Minister’s family and leadership, triggered a major uproar within Congress circles, prompting PCC chief Mahesh Goud and other senior leaders to formally complain to the high command demanding disciplinary action.
Amid the escalating row, Konda Surekha travelled to Delhi and met AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, distancing herself from her daughter’s remarks and alleging that certain individuals were deliberately conspiring against her because she is a BC (Backward Class) woman.
