Iran Weighs Strikes on U.S. Bases in Bulgaria, Cyprus as War Drags On

The ongoing war between the United States and Iran in West Asia shows no signs of reaching a resolution. Instead of a peace agreement being reached between the two countries, the war is intensifying further. Amid this, Iran has taken another sensational decision. International media reports have emerged suggesting that Iran is preparing to launch attacks on American military bases in Europe should the war fail to end, or escalate further. Citing relevant sources, news reports stated that Tehran’s forces are assessing the possibility of striking several American assets located in southeastern Europe, including in Bulgaria and Cyprus.
Iranian commanders have warned that if the United States launches large-scale strikes on Iran, there remains a real possibility that Iran could target American military assets and infrastructure beyond West Asia as well. Bulgaria recently granted permission for its Bezmer air base to be used for American refueling aircraft. Against this backdrop, media reports indicated that Iran is considering targeting American assets in Bulgaria as a possibility. Reports also suggest that Iran similarly views Cyprus as a potential target. Likewise, media reports stated that Iranian forces have also been examining the possibility of attacking undersea cables belonging to various countries that run through the Strait of Hormuz.
Meanwhile, even as the war continues, local media reported that Iran earned foreign exchange worth more than ₹70,000 crore from oil-related trade in the first four months of this year. Citing information from Iran’s Ministry of Petroleum, media reports stated that this figure is 1.5 times higher compared to the revenue earned during the same period last year. Separately, Iran has issued a fresh warning to Gulf nations, stating that assisting the American military would be equivalent to participating in its military operations — an indirect warning that attacks on those countries would be inevitable as a result.
