US Bombing Hits Iranian Hospital As Tehran Reveals New Defense Capability

The war between the United States and Iran has intensified dramatically, with the US military carrying out its third consecutive round of heavy airstrikes on Iranian targets over the past 24 hours. Among the most devastating consequences of the latest bombing campaign was severe damage to the Shahid Baghaei Hospital in Ahvaz, where strikes hit the cancer ward treating young children undergoing chemotherapy, forcing emergency evacuations of the young patients to other facilities.

The American strikes also destroyed Iranian military camps, with the death toll from the ongoing offensive reaching at least 35, while more than 300 others have sustained serious injuries. US missiles further struck the Iranian capital, Tehran, as well as Bushehr, home to the country’s only civilian nuclear power plant. US Central Command stated that its objective is to prevent Iran from attacking vessels transiting the strategically critical Strait of Hormuz, and that degrading Iran’s military capability is central to achieving that aim. Separately, US forces used Hellfire missiles to strike and disable an empty oil tanker bound for Iran.

Iran responded to the American offensive with equal force. The country’s Revolutionary Guards launched a counterattack targeting the US Navy’s 5th Fleet base in Bahrain. Iran also announced that it successfully shot down an advanced US MQ-9 Reaper drone that had entered its airspace, using a newly deployed missile defense system.

Regional defense forces played a key role in intercepting further attacks. Jordanian armed forces shot down three missiles fired by Iran while they were still airborne, while American defense systems intercepted eight explosive drones that had been directed toward a US diplomatic facility near the Iraq border. Amid these escalating tensions, the United States approved substantial arms sales to regional allies, clearing $1.96 billion worth of weapons for Saudi Arabia and $484 million for Kuwait.

President Donald Trump issued notable remarks on the conflict, stating that Iran currently appears inclined toward peace negotiations. However, he warned that if Iran does not come to the negotiating table, the United States would resume strikes against the country starting next week.
