US Senator Lindsey Graham has expressed strong criticism over Pakistan’s involvement as a mediator in ongoing discussions between the United States and Iran. He stated that Pakistan’s diplomatic approach is undermining the peace process and raised concerns about its regional alignments.
Graham accused Pakistan of maintaining positions that are inconsistent with US strategic interests, particularly highlighting its stance on Israel and its perceived closeness with Iran. He said these factors are creating complications in diplomatic efforts aimed at stabilizing the region.
The Senator also condemned Pakistan’s refusal to engage with Israel and referred to its rejection of US President Donald Trump’s call to sign the Abraham Accords. He described Pakistan’s position on Israel as unacceptable and questioned its credibility as a participant in peace-related discussions.
Further criticizing Islamabad, Graham stated that Pakistan’s approach could pose risks to regional and global security. He stressed that a country which does not recognize Israel cannot be expected to contribute effectively to peace initiatives in the Middle East.
He also referred to reports suggesting that Iran may have stationed military aircraft at Pakistani airbases amid tensions with the United States, calling for a detailed investigation into the matter. Graham warned that if the reports are confirmed, it would represent a serious anti-US development, and urged Pakistan to provide immediate clarity on its foreign policy stance.
