US President Donald Trump has triggered a fresh political debate after responding to remarks made by Chinese President Xi Jinping during his ongoing visit. Xi Jinping had reportedly stated that the United States is “on the verge of decline,” a comment that drew strong attention in international political circles.
Reacting to the statement, Trump said he “100 percent agrees” with Xi Jinping’s observation but blamed the decline on former US President Joe Biden. He accused the Biden administration of weakening the country through open border policies, high taxation, failed trade agreements, and rising crime rates, which he claimed had significantly impacted the United States.
Trump further asserted that the situation had improved dramatically during his own 16-month leadership period. In a post on Truth Social, he highlighted record-breaking stock market performance, increased foreign investments, and what he described as successful military and strategic actions in Venezuela and ongoing measures against Iran as key achievements of his administration.
He claimed that the United States had transformed into one of the fastest-growing economies globally within a short period. Trump added that the “decline phase” witnessed during the Biden administration had ended and the country was now experiencing a strong economic and strategic recovery on the global stage.
The former President also stated that despite earlier tensions, relations between the United States and China had improved compared to previous years. He further urged Xi Jinping to acknowledge the progress made under his leadership rather than focusing on criticism.
Meanwhile, Xi Jinping has also issued warnings over US involvement in Taiwan-related issues, adding to ongoing diplomatic tensions between Washington and Beijing. The exchange of statements between the two leaders has further intensified global discussions on US–China relations and shifting geopolitical dynamics.
