A major political development has unfolded in Tamil Nadu ahead of the floor test scheduled in the Assembly tomorrow, with Chief Minister Vijay reportedly strengthening his position through fresh political support. The development is being seen as a significant boost for the ruling side on the eve of the crucial trust vote.

According to reports, 28 rebel MLAs from the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam have extended their support to Vijay’s government. This shift in allegiance has reportedly increased the ruling coalition’s strength substantially, giving it a clear numerical advantage in the Assembly.

With the addition of these MLAs, Vijay’s support base is said to have risen to 147 members in the 234-member House, comfortably crossing the majority mark. This has significantly strengthened the ruling party’s position ahead of the floor test and reduced uncertainty over the government’s survival.

In the recent Assembly elections, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam had secured 108 seats, falling short of the 118-seat majority required to form the government independently. However, with the backing of the Indian National Congress and other smaller parties, the alliance strength had already reached around 120 seats before the latest development.

With the latest support from AIADMK rebel MLAs, political observers believe Vijay’s position ahead of the May 13 floor test has become significantly stronger. The development is expected to have a major impact on Assembly proceedings, with the outcome now widely seen as tilting in favour of the ruling coalition.
